Guerilla Campaign Fails To "Get People Talking" As Promised By Agency.
MIAMI— Athletic shoe manufacturer And 1 is rumored to be unhappy with agency Crispin/Porter/Bogusky after a non-traditional “guerilla” campaign failed to elicit the results they had been promised. "They told us that everyone would be talking about this campaign," said Vice Chairman, Carl Waltz. "The assured us that TV reporters would do a story about it, radio DJs would be talking about it, and that it would create a huge buzz," said Waltz. "So far, not a word. Just a huge fine for spray painting on public sidewalks." The agency was unavailable for comment.

Burger King Hoping To Squeeze In One Or Two More Agency Reviews By End Of Year.
NEW YORK— Merely days after awarding their account to IPG roster shops, Burger King began the process of initiating another agency review. Said Janet Utzinger, BK Vice President of Marketing, "We'd like to get in one or two more agency reviews by year's end," adding "it's ambitious, but we think if we move quickly we can do it." The number two burger chain, known for frequent agency changes, feels that inconsistency is the key to success. "After a few months with one agency, the creative tends to get a little stale," noted Utzinger. "It's nice to see what else is out there," she added. The company has already short-listed a group of contenders and plans to make a decision on a new agency in early October.

TiVo Developing Technology That Will Allow Readers To Skip Magazine Ads.
SAN JOSE— Building on its success in giving consumers the ability to skip TV commercials, TiVo announced plans for a new system that would eliminate bothersome magazine ads. A spokesman for the company said "we know how annoying advertising can be, not to mention trite, insulting, condescending and blatantly false. Now people can simply avoid them altogether." The company wouldn't comment on how the system would affect advertisers but said simply "that's not really our problem," then added "there's always product placement."

Couple Sues Nabisco After Being Physically Assaulted By Snackwells Street Team.
ATLANTA— A Fort Lauderdale couple is suing Nabisco after an encounter with an overzealous Street Team. The couple claims they were merely sightseeing in Atlanta when two people dressed in brightly-colored Snackwells uniforms tried to give them a trial size pack of Cheesums. When the couple refused, the Street Team became aggressive, trying to force the trial pack into their pockets. "I was terrified when they wouldn't leave us alone," said Sarah Voorhees. "The kept pushing them on us and telling us that 'they're cheesier'," she added. While trying to flee, Ms. Voorhees tripped over a curb an sprained her wrist. A spokesperson for Nabisco said the company trains its Street Teams to take 'no' for an answer and will look into this matter further.
NEW YORK— Four months after winning a portion of the Pizza Hut account, Wieden and Kennedy has lost the business for what sources are saying was a lack of understanding of the brand.

“We’re selling pizza. People want to see what they are buying,” said a Pizza Hut marketing executive who declined to be named. “Wieden was presenting us with stuff that didn’t show people biting into the product and then smiling broadly with satisfaction.”
